Though I can't really judge properly on first listen, production sounds fine on Graves to me.

lol i expected you to not like this wiz i thought you didnt dig graves of the archangels that much

I have both of them at a 3.5. I do enjoy them quite a bit but this......entirely different beast altogether. This is dm hitting it's stride.

i thought the production on graves was great

the drum mix really bothers me on graves and always has, the kicks are way too low and the toms do this weird thing where they sound both triggered and mic'd and then were layered over each other and they sound super sloppy. the production wasnt bad i just always thought it didnt really nail the sound they were going for.

this however does

production's a bit murky to me, but it just complements the music fine. Really no complaints about it

more and more bands are doing it and imho it's the optimal practice for low budgets. One other death metal band which has done the same is Resurgency on the debut album.

yeah thats what i always felt, like they were trying for a sound they didnt necessarily have the budget for. the guitars sound sweet but the drums always irked me.

but i mean ive been listening to that album for years so its not THAT big of an issue, i just felt it was enough to warrant addressing seeing as how this is such a big step forward in terms of production.

This.

New Horrendous in September.

Enough 2014 death metal for me.

4.0 for now, might get even bigger.
