Man, they really need to lighten up about that. People go to shows to exert energy... It's kinda the whole point. And you think they'd be keen on an energetic reaction from the crowd to make them feel more comfortable. Just so fucking weird.

i mean, i understand the rationale of not wanting ppl to get hurt. i've been to tons of sardine-can packed shows where i've been squashed, kicked, dived on and pushed around like crazy, to the point where i've felt in danger of passing out or getting hit pretty bad, and i'm not the smallest guy (which ofc means that women are having a harder time than i am). at the same time, when you can tell everyone at the show is restraining themselves in order to appease the performer, it feels super unnatural and it's a huge bummer. it's genuinely just difficult to find a comfortable middle ground in between, so most bands and audiences just kinda accept the level of discomfort in the crowd at shows and hope that nobody needs an ambulance by the end of it. or you have bands like this who make a hard ruling that restricts crowd movement. both attitudes are imperfect.

Yeah, I understand that there are positives and negatives to either perspective. I think that completely restricting movement is the clear worst of the two though, especially when considering the subject matter at hand. This is a rather cathartic album for a lot of folks, so being told to just stand and appreciate feels a bit off.
It's possible to have a show that has movement without being excessive as well; movement in of itself does not automatically lead to a worst-case scenario (though yes, there's more inherent danger). I feel that just putting on a full-on restriction is a buzzkill.

I think Goodness might actually be a better album, even if this made more of an impact

Hard to argue either way, they really both have their positives depending on your perspective. I think this has the edge, but Goodness is definitely a worthy successor.

Your Deep Rest is easily the best for me. It feels like the best representation on this album if you had to pick a song. The chorus crushes me.

These guys are on a completely different level than their peers. Can't imagine any other emo band writing anything as mature and deep as this or Goodness.
