Amon Tobin's music is great no matter what medium it's experienced

He made great records ["Hard Normal Daddy", the jazzy "Music Is Rotted One Note" and "Go Plastic!" above all] but loads of crap too. Haven't listened to this yet, and not sure I ever will

I will not comment on this release because I've not heard it, and indeed his later music wasn't so great.

But it feels weird to see how many people act like Feed Me Weird Things is NOT a 4.5/5 at the very least.

So yeah...

this wouldn't get nearly as much hate if it was just a normal SP album

plus a lot of people seem to be slagging off the whole robots gimmick rather than the actual music, which is just mediocre jazz fusion

considering every song here was made with the accompany of robots, it becomes difficult to separate
the two. and i think that's why it sounds so mediocre - he's limiting himself to that gimmick by
choice.

yeah, and had he not made the method of performing public and released it as an album under his own name, no-one would've noticed and it would've got average but not awful reviews

i mean come on, a 1 for this is absurd

this isn't good, but it also isn't deserving of 0.5. i've heard wayyyyyy shittier stuff than this

MisterTornado

probably not, but in deviant's realm of electronic excess i'd say the 0.5 is justified

this would be so much better if it didnt sound like it was made with 90s midi sounds

i find average music more deplorable than downright bad music, and in the case of this album it is impossible to separate the spectacle from the actual music, so i think the low ratings are justifiable.

i even said in the review that the music is just beyond average, but the concept is what makes it laughable
