"you already say it's their best album"

No I said,

"this might be their best album"

Two completely different things.

I knew that you were going to say that. Regardless, I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm just saying it's pretty early to jump to conclusions so far when it's only been a day. Even me saying it's their best since Vena Sera is jumping the gun.

Definitely a tad bit heavier than the last few albums

may be a slightly more experimental album but it's the same old chevelle

they just can't seem to get past that 3.5-4 range, though most bands would kill for that kind of consistency

you always know what you're going to get with these guys and that's why i dig em. shame that this doesn't have any real standouts like straight jacket fashion but it's pretty great all the way through

I think if he thought it was their best album so soon, let him. Not everybody's reactions need to take the same amount of time

I get that but at the same time it's really really premature. Unless you've given this 5-6 listens already, I say it's not given the time to sink in appropriately. Although, yes, everyone is different too so I should take that into account as well.

I know you're not trying to be a dick I just thought it would make sense to people how I said it. I heard it one time through and thought to myself this definitely has the capability to end up being my favorite album of theirs. I wouldn't consider that remotely close to jumping the gun especially since I have heard every song even if at the time it was just once. Their music isn't that technical either. Although I do dig that they went through so many speaker boxes and different guitars etc. that they've never used before for each song.

Don't know how no one has mentioned Jawbreaker as a favourite yet. I hope it ends up a single.

I also feel like if Twinge had some more singing in the verses, or an actual 2nd verse at all, it'd be better. I like both Twinge and One Ocean a lot, OO is just a ballad done be Chevelle during a time of experimentation, and Twinge is just a weird and eerie song.

Listened to every song about 20 times now except The Damned and Ouija, between this and Point #1 as their fav album for me, can't decide.

I always take time away and then 2.5 years later they always come back and remind me why they are the best rock band out there

Chevelle's sounding alot more like Deftones, Tool and Soundgarden these days.

Not that this is anything to complain about.

Especially that last song, very Deftones-ish.

Iunno boys, this album is holding up pretty well. Favorites are: An Island (obviously), Hunter Eats Hunter, and then probably Twinge. It's such a great closer, so mysterious and eerie.

man, I've always really liked these guys, and I don't really understand why.

something about their aesthetic and knack for a particular type of melody and rhythm just fuckin' gel with me. I dig almost all of their records even though on paper they are something I should hate. Looking forward to this release.
