Some songs definitely made a stronger impact on 2ND listen so maybe I'll come around

I know people who hate La Dispute because of the vocals, so I doubt they'd like it if it's anything like Vega. coughsnidecough

Nothing after Vega sounds anything like Vega

Interesting. I'll have to run through their post-Vega work.

untitled ep is their best

I mean I guess the vocals are similar but besides that yeah

Yeaaah, the new one is dreadfully uneventful. It doesn't have anywhere near the punch of their first two. I'm feeling a 2-2.5 as well.

FS2 and There You Are (Hiding Place) are top tier La Dispute imo. easily my favorites.

album is definitely missing something? Jordan sounds just so repetitive throughout too. I hope he goes back to a more Wildlife or even Rooms esque storytelling style for the next one. He's being incredibly personal which I can't say I don't appreciate/understand but it's a lot of dreams this and remember that for like the whole album.

I think FS1, Rhondonite and Grief and the last 2 are pretty good

Anxiety Panorama started off amazing but didn't go anywhere. View From Our Bedroom Window was kinda the opposite. He sounded so good at the end. I liked the more free-form styles in In Northern Michigan but it took a while to get to that part.
You Ascendant was probably my favorite usage of spoken word, and emphasis on storytelling. It was such an honest track that kinda felt like the genuine version of everything he was trying to do with previous spoken word sections on the album. The song wasn't perfect and definitely wasn't the most compelling in terms of sound but that one brief moment of screaming was just so pure and is another highlight for moments on the album

Singles are all definitely some of the best. Footsteps had a much stronger direction than the other tracks that tried to do similar.
I'm feeling a 4 as of now. which is a bit of a letdown to me still but it was still a really great listen.

I would have changed up something about the run from Anxiety Panorama to Bedroom Window.
Also yeah there are so many parts where it is hard to hear Jordan. On the contrary, this instrumentally sounds so damn captivating.

This album started a kind of split between the loud and soft and it's even worse on the new album, you could absolutely guess every place where he's going to yell on first listen, they used to have such dynamic songwriting but it's just growing increasingly flat

also wow, that felt really short. Did not expect to hear my most anticipated album of 2019 today. I'm gonna hold off on a relisten because it still feels so early.
again, solid 4. There are more heavy moments than rooms which is really nice but there's something less compelling about the package as a whole. FS2 and Hiding Place were definitely the biggest sounding things here

I'm gonna need more listens to get a bit more analytical on this.
It took a while for Wildlife to open itself up to me too back in the day so I guess you never know. Really excited to hear any of these live though
