Took me forever to get into this album, but once I did literally every song just clicked for me.
Great album I love it, such a wonderful product of its time.

It is an excelent 4 cause Zappa obviously thought pop music at the time was ridiculous and insignificant and
made a lot of cool stuff.

So...I found this guy Harry Partch who is basically Frank Zappa in the 40s and 50s.
This song "U.S. Highball" was released in 1958: https://youtu.be/23iT28bZx2g
Frank Zappa includes it in his "classical" music picks: http://www.allmusic.com/album/frank-zappas-classical-selection-mw0002100982

As an artist Zappa certainly 'developed' from the time of releasing this album, whilst undoubtedly innovative at the time there is plenty of better Zappa material to feast on than this! Thank good for online music streaming services that allowed me to listen to this in full so as to avoid mistakenly purchasing it just because it's Zappa. 'Hot rats' and 'Chunga's revenge' are far better examples of his undeniable brilliance imo.

People always mention Sgt Peppers yet this came out before that album and McCartney himself regarded Sgt Peppers as the Beatles' Freak Out!. Zappa not getting the credit he deserves yet again. Revolutionary album

People like to discredit him cuz he's very on the nose I guess
Despite big names like Paul McCartney, Tony Iommi, and George Clinton all citing his early work as influence on their music
