i might bump down.
it's tiresome "combine many metal styles and call it progressive". all the riffs sound familiar. aside from a few catchy choruses that aren't bad, it's forgettable

The only cure to this is to not listen to stuff like this TOO often you know? Otherwise I'd probably feel the same.
It sounds like a terrible thing to say, but that's just the nature of this super tech metal I think.

the biggest issue for me is how polished it is. the production just irks me. I could still throw on Bland Street Bloom or any other Sikth track once in a blue moon and probably get some enjoyment out of it still and I still check out stuff like Animals As Leaders whenever they release new stuff and get some mild enjoyment and nostalgia factor going on. But man the guitar tones on this album just sound so painfully radio alternative, it sounds like they borrowed a guitar from creed or seether or some shit and that sound just makes me feel like a pre-teen again.

I know exactly what you mean regarding the guitar tones. They really do sound like that.

I really liked what SiKTh made on their two records (I'm not very used to this kind of music, so it was quite
a novelty for me), and as I heard about them on this site first, I was pretty happy to hear about Destrage
here first as well, even though I don't think their music - as equally technical as SiKTh's - is as a
breakthrough (again, for me) as the aformentioned band's music was. Still, I pretty much enjoy listening to
this album because the musicianship is top notch, the vocalist has a wide range of emotions running through
his clean and harsh vocals, and the songs themselves are quite enjoyable, my standout piece being the album
title song (these solos at the end are mind boggling, especially the bottleneck one: is it Buckethead's
solo?). My rating might look a bit high, but as I said I don't listen to many bands like these two. Oh! And
sorry if my English isn't perfect, I'm from Quebec City. ;)

My favourite moment on the album is the buildup and solo in the middle of Where the Things Have No Colour. Even though that's the most straightforward song on the album that climactic point is masterful and the solo is sex.

the solo is sex.
or at least the closest thing to sex that anyone who listens to this kind of music will ever get

Really digging their extensive studio footage. I wish more bands would release more vids like that. I'd watch them even if I wasn't into their music.
