I believe the “Southern Lord” (US) version. Opens with ‘Farewell’ and the closer was 18+ minutes.

Aight kiddo, find yourself a rip of the vinyl version that opens with the t/t, pushes Farewell to the penultimate slot and extends My Machine and Pseudo-Bread asap. That shit is another level ;]

Honestly I can't picture not having 'Farewell' first - it feels like the perfect opener. But an eleven-something minute version of 'My Machine' sounds pretty awesome, so I'm downloading the LP version right now. Are the rest of the songs different recordings, too, or just those two + the track list change?

Pseudo bread has a drone section at the end and just abandomed myself is 18 mins long on the LP. Everything else is the same. The lp is neat because it cuts it into a heavy half and a drone half.

The "CD" version I had had an 18-minute version of 'Just Abandoned Myself', too. Upon further Wikipedia inspection it looks like the initial CD release in Japan has the truncated 10-minute version, which was usurped by the 18-minute behemoth for the US CD release. Then came the LP vinyl at some point which kept the 18-minute closer but also switched around the track list considerably and had a much longer version of 'My Machine' (11-minutes versus the 2-minute track on the CD version). Also as you mentioned, 'Pseudo-bread' is a bit longer on the LP version, too.

Might have the timelines messed up but that's what I gather.

Anyway the US CD version blew me away. Just added the extended LP version to my phone so I'll be listening soon.

Heh yeah, Farewell is a neat opener, but the lp is neat because it cuts it into a heavy half and a drone half [2] - works even better with the first 30ish mins being quickfire bangers and the second half slowing things down. Farewell is a perf resolution to the My Machine and Pseudo-bread drones, and then the closer is uggggh so satisfying. I found it kinda came out of nowhere on the cd version

I prefer the vinyl just cos the songs are longer, but Farewell will always be the album’s opener. T/t isn’t a bad opener at all, but I was introduced to Farewell abruptly ending and transitioning into the badass opening riff of /tst

yeah the LP rules, love the extended versions of Pseudo-bread and My Machine. but but but but but buuuuuuut, i still think Farewell should be the opener. perhaps my unbiased faculties are tainted at this point because i first listened to the CD version which kicks of with Farewell, but honestly it's the perfect opener for this. even with the more clearly defined diptych of the LP (which totally works), Farewell just has that "overture" feel to it, and i can't escape that thought.

but either way, CD or LP or whatever, can't remember the last time a new-to-me album threw me for such a loop. have listened to this five times in the last three days. could easily eeeeasily see this eventually becoming a 5.0, which could possibly make it my quickest-awarded 5.0 aside from Fire Orchestra's 'Arrival' (but even that took me a few months to finally make the jump, so we'll see).

and i'm normally not huge on drone or even drone metal in general, but that last half of 'Just Abandoned Myself' is absolutely hypnotic. like, all 18-some minutes just mesmerize me, and i've never once had the urge to skip the concluding drone section. (in fact, i look forward to getting there. might be one of the best things this album has to offer.)

that fact in itself is worth something.
