Well, i as a metal fan, i'm listening because of the great metal music in combination with pop melodies.. but the band behind this is fantastic - great solos, great melodies.. it's hard, it's heavy, it's fun.. i mean, i come to metal through nu-metal, so maybe some kids come to metal through this

@misho87: If you think if anyone's going to get into Metal through this IMO you're bonkers. As Calc said, no one listens to this to be heavy metal/strictly for the 'metal part', people listen to this because it's a great gimmick and is really fun.

@Asdfp277: Because Babymetal IS a gimmick. Japanese pop music has a gimmick/trend im their culture called Idols and the gimmick of mashing genres together in a streamlined way and whether it'll work or not because it's 'weird' and cute it will sell. Idols are basically females who are attractive and cute and and music Japanese music companies like to form groups with these said idols, mainly being Pop music. Babymetal are an Idol group with the gimmick of having J-Pop and metal together, corporately planned. Despite it being well done and they've improved massively since their inception, it's a clearly a gimmick.

@Asdfp277: I never said people listen strictly because of the gimmick, I mean that it's that said gimmick which has grabed so many people's attention. If the music was shit than no one would like it despite said gimmick. It's fun, overblown yet well done material (for the most part) that makes this enjoyable.
