You know, I like this, and I'll like it probably more when summer comes around. I see where you guys are coming from, but I gotta have a couple of these catchy poppy summer groups.

At first read of this review of AA, I felt kind of pouty about it; I thought that in 'American Authors' I had discovered something musically new.
Then, when I listened to the opening of Imagine Dragons' (who had not caught my attention before) album, I discovered that the opening chord is like.. Exactly the same as AA's 'Believe' (which came after).
Thanks for setting the record straight, reviewer. Brilliant writing.

Good review, Green Baron. I share a lot of your thoughts about American Authors and indie pop in general. It's surprising how the worst bands are the most popular. I mean, we could have St. Vincent with a top 40 hit, but no, let's go with the Imagine Dragons ripoff instead.
It's rather shocking how much they ripped off "It's Time" but what's even more shocking is how many people didn't notice it. One of my classmates refused to believe that they sounded the same and only was somewhat moved when I played both tracks at the same time, and even then he said "there's still some differences."
It's all just generic crap and I'm glad to read you tear it a new asshole. You have my approval, sir.

All 5 tracks from American Authors' self-titled EP return on the New York based band's debut LP 'Oh, What a Life'. Again, the quartet - who formed in Boston & were initially named The Blue Pages - shamelessly aim for mainstream radio & charts, with each of these 11 tracks single-worthy. Name a successful pop-rock band from the past 5 years & American Authors borrow from them. The folk-pop of Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers is most prevalent, with the uplifting lyrics lacking subtlety & crossing the line into cheese. It's all a bit bland, but rather infectious & totally harmless. Recommended Tracks: Trouble, Best Day of My Life & Luck.

Well, I guess I'm no longer shocked. This album is so bland and generic that I don't even think it's interesting enough to warrant a 1.

Oh god, everybody is singing "Best Day Of My Life". Worst alternative track ever, not to mention the constant overplay on Top 40 radio which is absolutely ridiculous. Can we give this a zero somehow haha it deserves it
