Haven't stopped spinning this since a couple days ago. The Self Surrendered and The Escape are such incredible jams.

Sounds like a severe case of "super generic overproduced vocals". And that's on the same scale for me with the indie singer clones that all have the same, lame, high pitched whiny vocals. (how do people even keep those apart?)
Yeah, pass. I'll stick to Pomegranate Tiger.

I don't really think this sounds high pitched and whiny at all. This guy is pretty midrange. Overproduced is perhaps a more valid complaint

Read again, what I said was that such generic vocals are on the SAME page for me with whiny, high-pitched INDIE vocals. It should be quite obvious that the latter cannot possibly apply here.

So you think these vocals would have sounded better striped, and raw? The reason they sound generic is because that is what they should sound like for the GENRE. Understand the hate, but if you hate the vocals may as well hate all of the production here as the record is mixed in the same vein.

Good review, I love the music on this album. However, I'm not a fan of the vocals.

I love the vocals here. A tad overproduced but they are super well written and executed anyway.

The songs (the first three anyway) have really similar formulas, and I don't really like the mixing of djent stuff with poppyness. The marriage between the two doesn't work for me- every time I try to hook on to the poppy vocals, the slow djent-y drumbeats strip the energy away. Good production and performances, but the songwriting leaves a lot to be desired.
