It's the idea that the new stuff is "bad" because it's not noisy punk that irks me

though it always sounds like thats the only argument people are makin its really not. the whole deal is this band was way more interesting when they were writing noisy fuzz than they have ever been writin shitty neil young b sides or banal acoustic 70s rock. just so boring now. this albums a turd

It has little to do with them abandoning noisy punk, and has almost everything to do with the fact that this album sounds generic. There were songs to take from New Moon, like Electric and Half Angel/Half Light that rode that fine line but still kept it tighter than this.

Tomorrow's Hits sounds more like a B-side collection, an album with little going on and little to look forward to. And to be fair, the change wasn't as drastic as you make it sound. New Moon maintained both qualities and it was a solid record. This doesn't have that. It's just jam band.

I saw some of these songs live last year and the band as a whole on stage is messy, but not in a good way, messy like that local bar band that plays the same setlist every night and still screws it up.

nah it wasnt

and mcmegamountain if you read the new moon thread from last year youd know the men have already been identified as an indie rock tom petty aka shit,, a trend which started with open your heart and though that had one or two songs that made me think "hmmm this is not that crappy" the rest of the album made me want to stick my finger up my ass while new moon and this followup literally make me want to put a gun to my head and end the pain here and now

This is definitely better than New Moon. I like the horns. But the songs do drag on one riff or phrase for way too long.
