Who cares though? Good singer or not, he had a unique style that everyone commenting seems to enjoy. I say it doesn't matter what his motivation was for singing that way, the music speaks for itself

I know, I'm saying I don't think it matters since he deliberately tried to be a fairly unremarkable singer to not weaken everything else

I do get what you mean tho; It's like in a screamo band, where Ok the vocalist isn't really skilled or anything, and sometimes the rest of the band isn't really that great either, but some how it all works, partly because skill isn't really the point they usually try to get across

One singer I can think of who isn't really 'great' but has a really unique voice is Tim McIlrath from Rise Against/The Killing Tree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2ZIvl23orA this song is way better than anything on Endgame or Appeal to Reason
