They are all sonically similar, but they all crush hard.
Would like to see some experimentation on their next album, though.

I'm on Drown Within now.
I can tell that this is going to be hellish with these bass pops.

they are similar stylistically but for-fucking-sure they have different approaches
shit, vermis sounds much more aggressive than destroyers, that's an obvious difference

I got a pretty proggy vibe from Destroyers, still sonically they all share definite similarities.

Well duh, I'm not denying they all have their quirks. I guess what I mean is, you could've taken 3 tracks from this, Destroyers.... and Vermis put them on an album, said it was a full-length, and it would all feel like a cohesive listen, like those songs were written together. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, they guys still rule, but they could probably shake it up a bit. Especially on their next album, I can see the well running dry if they try keep the exact same sound.

I wouldn't mind more songs like Withered & Obsolete and Soullessness Embraced with how they changed things up often instead going for the almost-traditional songstructures they had showing up more often than here

Retaining your core sound isn't really a qualifier for being a one trick pony
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement, I just really don't think these guys differentiate themselves on album to album bases (or at least don't do it enough) to deny that they kind of play it safe. That's just my opinion though. And like I've been saying this whole time -- Ulcerate rules.

A lot of the riffs on this are very samey, but it's heavy as all fuck.

'A lot of the riffs on this are very samey'
They do sound that way on first listen cos there's just loadsa shit going on, but when you peel off the layers it becomes a difference beast entirely.

"also the additional guitars were cut down massively as they're beginning to focus on being a threesome in the studio as they would otherwise be live."
exactly, the next album probably won't be as embellished as this or Fracture unless they add another dude to the fold

I actually think the intro to Drown Within is my fave part of the record. Its just so bleak and pummeling while subtlety hinting at what you are in for for the next 50 minutes.
