Oh it's more consistent alright, but the highs on Generation Terrorists were much higher

Somebody told me to vote Conservative
Tragedy is not known under this dimmest of lights
Everybody feels sick by the courtesy of dismay
Was I schooled without direction?
Gold against the soul
Rock 'n' roll has a conscience
It supplies convenience
Gold against
Against the soul
Against the soul
Close the pits sanctify Roy Lynk an O.B.E
Shareholding a piece of this fucking country
Fossilise - make Yorkshire into a tourist resort
And dream of new ways to humble the poor
Gold against the soul
White liberal hates slavery
Needs Thai labour to clean his home
Gold erodes
Erodes the soul
Erodes the soul

no other band are out there writing lyrics that could fill a textbook or serve as poetry
closest are the Mods but they're more a case of providing slogans for graffiti or lyrics that could also serve as stand up material

Definitely.
Lyrics like that would only come from the mouths of disingenuous latte arseholes nowadays. Richey (who was real deal despite the pretensions) will be turning in his grave. RIP

Damon Albarn is right. We need more bands that write political lyrics nowadays.

When your raging against the system people don’t want to be rallied by a music academy arsehole whose parents are actors. It’s why there isn’t any political cut and thrust from the youth, they’re all brats who insist bands like the pistols were ‘fake’
Clueless.

Listening to this album in a parking lot with dear ol dad right now and someone who was parked near us gave us a thumbs up as he was driving away - suffice it to say he dug the music :D

This album makes me 3 for 3 with getting my dad into this band - already had considerable success with THB and EMG 😎👍
Played "A Design for Life" for my mom recently too and she enjoyed it!!

I think this band is the biggest example of a disparity between US and UK popularity. I mean yeah, bands like Oasis and Blur were bigger in the UK as well, but at least they were still big in the US. With MSP though, I almost never hear any casual rock fan mention them whatsoever. But in the UK, they're straight-up icons
