No idea why this is sohated. Almost a 3.5 for me, the last 2 tracks ruined that potential though. Still very good. Jazzy, but with a more rock and atmosphere oriented feel. As good as Focus and Traced? No, but less than a 3? come on guys....

lol I really like the last two tracks. For me this album is somewhat bottom-heavy with the least enjoyable tracks being 3-5. Even then I still find things to like in those tracks..
I agree that this is definitely over-hated. Doesn't quite reach the heights of their best work but from a purely instrumental perspective, I find the performances really enjoyable - three masters of their instruments just jamming.

I always wonder if "The Space for This" is about grand internal realizations or about taking a dick

If you're gay, it's both.
Now that's what I call... deep.

Focus and Traced in Air are the Yin to each other's Yang, and then this album is like the shitty appendage no one wants

This isn’t so bad, Lion’s Roar, t/t, and Gitanjail in particular are really good. But I can see why people are down on this one. Not only because they toned down the metal aspects of their sound, it sounds far less alien than their previous releases. I don’t quite get the same transcendant feeling from this record. Still have hopes for the new one coming out!

It's not terrible but sounds awful if listened right after the previous two albums. Releasing the Portal tapes and the original demos in form of a compilation was pretty cool but I need Cynic to write a quality album so I regain my interest in them.
