However, when taking into account that basically every song is in a major key, it is hard to

reconcile the uplifting feeling the guitars provide with the vocals. The vocals just do not work for

me with this style of riffing, there's a complete confusion as to what type of tone the songs are

trying to set

it's anguish as a reaction to dreams you don't believe you can achieve. fantasizing about a blissful

future for yourself (living in a dream house, having a perfect partner) then tuning back to all the

obstacles you can't overcome, the self-loathing that's ingrained in your mind

Fixed, not sure why the contraction looked right to me... thanks.

I'm not sure the album succeeds at conveying this to me at all because the general tonality of the music doesn't change. The music never really "tunes back" into reality for me because the entire instrumentation is basically a blissful ethereal metal meets post rock mood. Unless you read the lyrics (which I did not analyze very thoroughly in the review as I would quickly become very scathing about them) you have no idea that this is the type of dichotomy the band is trying to capture.

Nice to see someone disliking this so thoroughly, and with reason. I pretty much disagree on every level, but your arguments are completely valid and well constructed. However, the cover is awesome, and I will defend it with honor.

@Eunuch

It's not about pink and black metal. It's about a cover so simple standing out because of the font design. It was obviously well thought out, and its uniqueness as far as black metal covers are concerned is that it's not just a jumble of wispy lines mashed together to say the name of the band (illegibly of course, it's not kvlt if you can read it).

Very decent review. Knocking the album cover near the end was irrelevant to the music, but still a good review. I think your opinion is just as valid as anyone elses, and as someone who loves this album, I'm in no way offended by your view. Getting offended because of a differing opinion on a band's album is just dumb to begin with.
