I've never heard that band in my life. All I was talking about were the vocals.

Unfortunately his voice would fit great in an emo band ten years ago. It just so happens that anything high-pitched or bordering on what some would call a "whiny" tone reminds many of us of a lot of lesser music we'd rather forget about...

I mean, I love his voice, it's just that I cringe thinking about sharing this music with people I know because unless they've been living under a rock, they're just going to think I'm listening to whiny emo BS.

Update: still playing this daily and liking it more and more. I think I love every song song now, with the one moment that stands out as bugging the shit out of me being "HEEEEE NEVER GOT ENUF OXXXXYYYGEEENNN, R LITTTLE BOYY IS TTTuuUUuuRNIINGG BLUUUUuuuUUUEEE". The way that is sung is just overdramatic and it makes me giggle

When I see the tags "post-hardcore" and "prog rock" I know to stay far far away

Why hasn't anyone brought up how perfect In Aeternum is? For real, that song kills me.

I actually thought Aeternum was on the not so great side.

This is fantastic. I still have to listen more times yet, but I love little parts of some of the songs where there is like 3 seconds of an awesome riff or something, like on dethroned from 1:40 - 1:42 where it transitions back from chorus to verse, its just such a great transition.

Ecnalzen maybe it'll grow on you with time. Strikes me as one of the catchiest tunes I've ever heard. At first I was put off by the weird intro but I love all of it now.

And I haven't paid too much attention to the transitions specifically but I will say they're a lot better executed than on Leviathan!

Still not too sure about the vocals, but this album is fun for sure.

Aeternum is growing on me, but my favorites right now are Lily Trotter and Flint & Steel. Neither is as good as the title cut on the last album, but this album is so much more consistent that it doesn't matter.
