Gave this a listen, very beautiful stuff, didn't realise it was just one track! I'd definitely be interested to see them do a full-length with some more instruments.

Pretty cool. A tad pretentious but overall I like it.

Awesome review, pos! One nitpick though: there are absolutely no avant-garde elements in this record (or Agalloch and Painters for that matter)

Halfway through and wow her voice tho...

thanks Barber. as for the nitpick, I was pointing out how progressive bands are using cello, not necessarily claiming they sound the same (though I couldn't help but hear "They Escaped the Weight of Darkness" in his double-stops). also, Painters?

Meant Red painters, also no prob but wasn't talking about bands sounding the same but bands sounding like avant-garde wich isn't the case. there's a world of difference between avant-garde and progressive inclinations

not that important actually, wich is why it's just a nitpick

fair enough. I wasn't aware that avant-garde was a defined style; I've always assumed the literal definition.

It isn't a defined style either but it's a tangent present in all arts seeking to be at the absolute forefront of original creation and innovation in it's ideas/ concept and eventually technique. It's a bit complicated to resume in a sput comment but there's probably some better definitions than mine on the internet

Okay yeah I see what you mean. This is innovative in execution (progressive) but not so cutting-edge in all aspects as to be avant-garde.

I would like it a lot more if she was actually singing words. I can't take 14 minutes of "laaaa da doi da doiiii"

^ judging by the fact you have an Alesana album 5'd, I have no doubt you wouldn't like this
