Song's not about that anyway, it's about Yeezy having enough power to do whatever he wants without the consent of a corporation, and he's like one of the biggest musicians in the world so he pretty much is

not to defend Kanye (he does do/say some dome shiet) but he does speak some truths. if you've watched his zane lowe
interview his album might make more sense

"it's about Yeezy having enough power to do whatever he wants without the consent of a corporation" just to hand it over to a different corporation.

Sure maybe in some whacked out perspective that may seem like power, but when you spurn commercialism and how it dilutes your music just to continue the process, then it seems to me that someone is other a bald faced liar or just really really not self aware. And given that he is insanely rich, it is probably the latter (I mean most, if not all, of his guest spots on other artists' song in the last few years have been so damn lame).

if you can stomach Kanye for that long it's a pretty good interview. Charlamane the god calls him out on exactly what you're saying

I don't see how handing a song for a commercial is handing everything out

The dude has said in the past that he doesn't mind people using his stuff under his consent, but that he has no intention of giving away (As in, losing his rights to it, etc) his music/work

If they do something he doesn't like with his work there's no doubt the guy would flip shit and do something about it, i mean whatever you may think of hs music or lyrics or whatever you can't really say the dude isn't passionate about his stuff

That is quite a fine line to walk, and it doesn't sway me given that I saw this ad for the first time just a couple days after the song debuted on his site.

Dunpeal, I will check it after I listen through the new Lee Bannon.

cool

you sorta have to look past Kanye's douchnozzle exterior and then you have to look past his angry black man shtick to see that a lot of what he's saying is true

he's not really saying anything new tho. people in power will do everything they can to maintain their positions

I would never hold his personal character against his philosophical positions. His personal character simply makes his music impossible for me to like.

I don't care if the musicians are douches as long as they make good music and enjoyable stuff.

Completely the opposite. I will never listen to a Burzum record because of the murder. To me that puts him on a permanent unwritten blacklist.

Check my edit

Sure, it's a pretty fine line indeed, but it's not impossible to maintain yourself on the limits. He has sued people who miss use his properties, he hates it when people say he doesn't put heart into his performances and music and stuff, etc

At the end, he still has to find a way to maintain his status and pay bills. I mean, anyone who was living his life would want to, no?
And musicians can't last that high forever without some type of external aid.

Now if he was giving his beats and allowed for his music to be used in a way that completely contradicts his original message (like say he lets it be sampled for a racist song or something of the sort), that would be a completely different story

^yep does anyone think Michael Jackson's music is any less amazing because of his personal life? no, the music rocks and that's all that matters

@Jac It isn't silly. I am not going to do anything to support a murderer just like I wouldn't support an abuser (Chris Brown). Sure, this means I could wind up having to stop listening to an artist I previously liked (Xibalba), but I feel strongly about it.

you feel how you feel

my ears have no feelings tho and if it comes to "support" i'll just download an album if i feel an artist has done something THAT bad
