give me the exact quote in which i tried to change peoples opinion of silverstein. Oh, wait, thats right, i never tried to do that. musical taste is an opinion, so stop wasting your time on the reviews for bands you dont like instead of going around and saying "this band sucks". atleast when i go to comment on a band i dont like, i say that i dont like the band and give a reason instead of just saying "i hate this band" just so everybody knows that i hate the band. you, iluvatar, need to start reading comments a bit more carefully so you dont get the wrong impression.

writing a song isnt about how great the singing or guitarists are. they dont have to be the best. look at bush...they arent good musicians but they put good songs together. thats my opinion on silverstein...not the best out there...but the put some good stuff together. good band.

Silverstein and Hawthorne Heights both shop for fanboys at the same place, I think.
That said, the 'stein (as I shall now refer to them, in an attempt to make them less crap) are much better than HH, but that's not saying much.
As is typical with bands like this, I'd enjoy them a hell of a lot more without the singer.
And now my new amp just arrived, so Iiiiiiiii'm saiiiiiling awaaaaay...set a course for the open sea...
*nods head, satisifed at Styx reference*

this is an awesome review
this band is terrible imo they're just crappy screamo
their vocalist isnt too grand live. his voice seems weak except for the sceaming (but that sounds terrible anyway) i like screaming but not that kind. the band are pretty good (im not too fond of their more hard guitar and shit)

I've seen them live twice and their vocalist was great both nights IMO and most everyone at the show agreed. When did you see them?

well, i havent visited this thread in like a month, so i did not back down, i just lost interest. now, to address a few things that were said in my absence. Iluvatar, i was not trying to change the opinions of others with that statement about them being more talented than the likes of the people who say they are great. this is an appropriate time to quote Billy Talent "Don't think that you're so great, 'cause being great must suck" i am just clarifying things, not restarting a dead debate, so comment on this at leisure. codiak, the crying emo kids listening to hawthorne heights comment put images of a backstreet boys concert in my head, so, you simply rock for provoking that, i laughed at the thought of hawthorne heights getting surrounded by crying kids with razorblades. Perpatrators, as much as i like silverstein, they are, in fact, not even close to being the best band in the world, they are just above average in my book. I am not a fanboy of silverstein, i was just trying to win an arguement, but this looks like a stalemate, so i will not argue anymore for the good everyone here, so, to my competetors, nicely done. mybrotherthecow, what is your favorite band? now dfelon, just look at one of my previous comments on a DTW review, you might need to dig around a bit, but that is what i have to say to you. and as for Shane (the vocalist) his singing voice is good, and his screaming is also pretty well executed, but, there is room for improvement.

longest comment i have ever posted, but i forgot something. Pattern_recognition, what kind of amp did you get? and more importantly, guitar or bass?

when I bought this album, I listened to it, not able to decide my opinion on it...until I was 20 seconds into The Weak and the Wounded. At that point I realized I'd wasted my money. However, when I heard DTW, I found much of the band had improved greatly, except for Shane Told, who sounded almost exactly the same. He's gotten a little better with their latest release, but I still don't like this band.

This is the only Silverstein album I like. I don't know why I like this album, the bulk of the clean singing is like nails on a chalkboard to me, but I find myself singing along to most of the songs over and over again.

Great album, but I can't help but notice how over the years Shane's vocals have become much worse and his screaming has improved vastly (as well as the drums and guitar work.)

The vocals in this album were pretty bad, I only put up with it because I like the songs and their other albums sooo much. And they use a shitttttload of 6/8 timing, which is really cool.
