I really enjoyed this release. Like, I went two weeks non-stop only listening to this and DX.

In-demand singer/songwriter/producer Devonte Hynes consolidates his Blood Orange moniker with the act's 2nd LP 'Cupid Deluxe'. Texas born, London-raised & New York-based, the versatile 27 year old predominantly focuses on funky R&B and soul here, although there are a couple of detours into rap. As Hynes plays a plethora of instruments, he enlists many guest vocalists (to mixed results). Saxophones bring an 80s vibe, while everything is intricately layered in a subtle & effortless manner. At 51 minutes, it does overstay its welcome & still feels a little distant, but Hynes' talent often shines through. Recommended Tracks: You're Not Good Enough, Uncle ACE, Chamakay & Clipped On.

Listening to this again after being impressed by seeing him live. This rules and I need to bump my rating.
