jay-z is like the only guy whos albums praise comes solely from the production jobs. his rapping on reasonable debut was good but really the beats and guest appearances (dont even know any except biggie but hes biggie so he counts for everyone) are what made it amazing
its weird cause i can listen to him talk for hours about his music/success/kanye whatever cause hes very well spoken and smart, but i listen to his rapping on this for one verse and i wanna punch him in the face
