damn I wish I got to hang out with rody they were grilling stuff after their set which was funny, I didn't want to bother them and I also stuck around for a bit during ABR's set

the floor turned into a giant mosh pit which was sorta cool but mostly stupid. I personally don't get ABR's appeal tbh, maybe I should listen to some of their stuff

btw '68 was pretty fucking cool. In Hearts Wake sounds like every WWE theme song but not as good

they seem like real stand up guys, hopefully next time I see them it'd be a better place where I could have a chance to talk to them. rody replies to snapchats occasionally

but talking to the band isn't why you go to shows, how was the crowd? last time I saw them no one was moving around. It was lame you could tell people wanted to dance like they were looking around kind of jumping in place. .. waiting for shit to pop off but, it never did.

PTH didn't have as much moshing as In Hearts Wake or ABR but there were definitely points of moshing. a lot of fans were there too, place went wild when sequoia throne hit. I was also pleased cause they played sex tapes and skies, only thing that would've made it better would be C'est la Vie or something from Kezia

Kills me to remember how bad this was. Scurrilous too. Feel free to not read this while I reminisce. I used to work at a movie theater as a teenager and we got to see staff screenings all the time. We'd run them when we closed-up on Friday's, so usually around 1am. They were fun late nights. I think most of them were stoned. We'd always just fall asleep anyway. We decided to do one for Drillbit Taylor. So like 2008? Only 3 of us showed up for it. As we're waiting for it to start, the guy next to me has Kezia blasting in his earbuds. I finally asked what it was and Googled them at like 4am once I got home. Stayed up looping it. I fucking loved that album so much. I think they're the definitive band that got me into metal and set made me become passionate about finding music on the internet. Then I immediately found Sputnik...read the review for Cynic's Traced in Air the moment it was posted, and have been down that path for almost 10 years now.

I love you guys.

What the hell happened to this band. Maybe Fortress + Kezia were just lightning in a bottle for these guys, and I'll always cherish those albums, but it's sad to see how they devolved and became irrelevant.

I've come to love Scurrilous, but Fortress/Kezia are just so clearly superior to anything else they've done.

Agreed that fortress and kezia are head and shoulders above, but scurrilous and volition are still great albums.

i get the hate for scurrilous, I love it but, it Took me 20 or 30 tries before it opened up for me and even then it didn't feel like a Protest album.

This, however, was a jam from the very beginning and only got better with time. As good as, but probably definitely better than Fortress. and kezia?... shit

both kezia and fortress have a lot of sentimental, nostalgic mist surrounding it, for me. All the memories of seeing most of kezia Live, at my first GOOD show experience (first time in the pit, meeting the band. .. just dancing for once) will permanently cloud my judgement. Learning to play technical music thru looking up bloodmeat and wretch tabs (on a fucking acoustic guitar lol) means I will never be able to fairly judge these two albums without bias.

And still, this album makes Fortress sounds like a chiodos album, and kezia just sounds sort of sloppy. Passionate, and fun, but pretentious and self congratulatory. Not even taking the 'concept' into account, it just feels like high school kids playing metalcore.

When this album came out, I felt like they finally reached their potential. Shame, I STILL haven't even listened to the latest EP but it seems I'm not missing much
