This is the best thing Cage the Elephant has done imo. It's still only good, but I thought they showed potential here that they have now effectively destroyed.

This is without a doubt their peak. It's probably the best qualities of modern indie rock with a really nice edge from the quirkier side of CTE. The new album just sounds like a hollow shell of how complete this album is.

I feel like the new album only has Trouble and Cold, Cold, Cold as standout tracks, whereas Melophobia had Spiderhead, Come a Little Closer, Telescope, Hypocrite and Cigarette Daydreams as standouts with the other tracks being very listenable.



I find myself skipping past everything that isn't the two standouts on the new album.
