"we ain't about them chainz and ice, but still worship me like a pop star anyway!"
Way to denounce the most superficial, easy to identify elements of a culture rather than actually deconstruct it.

i don't know man, she's 16. i don't look at any of this music as having some sort of deep meaning or anything like that. its just fun stuff to listen / sing along to

I know I know. Teenagers can only be so intelligent. I have a hard time with artists like her. Her voice sounds too much like Florence to me, the music is kinda dull and is very much a teenager. I just wish people would stop taking potshots at rap music if they aren't going to be in depth.

i don't think she's necesarily taking shots at rap/pop, I think she's just saying that she's not into that scene. her life and the lives of folks who listen to her music isn't like that either. she's more describing the situation than trying to make a comment on it.
and yeah i agree that this can be pretty dull in places

Any request to "worship her like a pop star" is ironic, surely that's obvious to anyone with ears...
She's very modest in interviews, even self-deprecating
And she isn't taking pot shots at rap as a genre (she adores it), just the shallow opulent culture surrounding it
