Definitely underrated, but ultimately too bloated to sit beside their classics

Yeah I don't really get why there's so much filler here but the meat of the album is hot

Degree 0 and Circle of Manias are really the only ones I’d call filler, and maybe the intro track.

what, Circle Of Manias fucking RULES. Great Expectations, Yellow Windows, Family, Degree are all filler. I'll also throw in Occam's Razor cause it's whatever

I don't think I'd call Occam or Degree filler tbh, since they serve the flow and concept of the album as well as they do... if anything, Degree serves as a necessary hard-reset after the wistful nostalgia of Time Flies. But yeah, Yellow Windows and Family are probably the closest things I'd consider filler on the main disc

Time Flies is the low-point of the album for me, so I agree that Degree does a good job of righting the mood after that side-trip. My main point is the short tracks are skippable on this for the most part. The actual songs are great. I wish this had been like FOABP, 0 filler

Can you believe Talons said Circle was filler?? That is the Anesthetize-style payoff to the trilogy of Octane and Seance and it does such a good job. Easily an album highlight after that buildup. Such a nasty little piece

It interrupts the album's vibe for me. Doesn't fit like Anesthetize or Arriving did as the 'epics' of their respective albums. It's a good song though

Removing anything interrupts the flow of the album since its meant to be one long 55-minute song. Time Flies is the centerpiece of the whole thing and one of their best songs, so calling that a low point is baffling. Family and Windows I think are perfectly placed to lead into Time Flies. On the other hand, 0 Degree and Circle of Manias are just 2 short metal instrumentals, not even actual songs…

I'm not sure I agree it's supposed to be one long 55-minute song. It feels pretty episodic to me. And the centrepiece will ALWAYS be Octane through Hearse for me. Time Flies just bores me and is too long and jarring, and has a lot of nitpicks. The album flows way better without it for me. I'm glad you guys love it though, I'll probably revisit it one day, it's been a few years since I sat through it. It just never did much for me. Tbh, the entire second disc is more memorable than Time

"It interrupts the album's vibe for me."
centerpiece of the album according to sw and flows smoothly in the tracklist so i don't rly get this take, but end of the day different strokes for different folks
also your unpleasant family rules imo haha

as far as filler goes, unpleasant family is great yeah. I just don't like Time that much, I want heavy riffs and eerie atmosphere. That's what got me into PT

also ballads. It's hard to go wrong with Steven's ballads

Wilson himself also said the album is meant to be one long 55-minute song. The Blind House, Kneel and Disconnect, Time Flies, The Seance, Octane Twisted, and I Drive the Hearse are my favs. Disc 2 is indeed excellent too, especially the first two songs.
