Again: Blackmore did not leave DP in 1974 but in April 1975; he did not meet Dio then but had already known him for a few years. The first joined concert was in August 1972 shortly after the recording of Made in Japan.
Neither did Dio and Blackmore fire the other members of Elf immediately after the recording of the debut album. The reason is simple: Blackmore played with DP for several more weeks. The album Made in Japan is the ultimate proof. Only in the summer of 1975 Dio and Blackmore decided to continue Rainbow but with other musicians. Elf had already been put on hold.
I'm not so easy to forgive the short duration. Had they added eg Powell's drumsolo with Tchaikovsky's Ouverture 1812 - they had hired the Munich Symphony Orchestra anyway - I would given a perfect score.
