Some good songs on here, and a notable improvement on their previous album, but still nowhere near as good as their older works.

There's something about this band that gives me an almost warm and fuzzy feeling, as strange as that's going to sound.

They actually remind me of Weezer in that the music is less about instrumental complexity and meaningful lyrics and more about the emotion of the song.

This is definitely better than the letdown that was (half of) Battle for the Sun. Especially the riffs in the t/t and Rob the Bank and how melancholy Bosco is
It's wrong for me to say this but I just wish they go back on drugs so their music would be top tier once again, kek.

I hope they make more videos like this for the next album, whenever that may be.

The only songs that I sort of like are AMLP, EW, BTE and Bosco, though in my eyes it's one of Placebo's weaker finishing tracks... and it feels sort of generic, sigh. Reminds me of BTFS songs.

Thank God they took a break from releasing albums because with this one they started to kill themselves. What happened to Brian's brilliant songwriting?

I think after all the 20th anniversary touring they've done (they were fantastic live) they'll go back into the studio with a bit more vigour than before. Jesus' Son doesn't count because it was written and recorded around the time they released this.

Haven't listened to this album since release but I randomly got "Rob the Bank" stuck in my head today and had to go listen to it. Pretty damn good post-Meds track, if it weren't for the lame 2010s flat-drum production it'd be even better, but even so. The bad moments on this record prevented me from rushing to revisit, but the chorus of Rob the Bank alone makes me reconsider

A Million Little Pieces is really good as well, wow. Has that very melancholy, cold yet appealing feeling I loved about most old Placebo (specifically a lot of the Sleeping With Ghosts stuff)
This has all been a real nice surprise so far

Do you think the band will introduce a new drummer? Or they will keep as a duo?

Always been a defender of this album and fully agree with the review. Favourites have to be Too Many Friends, A Million Little Pieces & Bosco. Hell, might even throw Begin The End in there as well, great track.

revisiting this after the great new album and having been able to see them live for the first time ever recently - coming to the conclusion they don't truly have a bad album, but this & Battle upon release were pretty jarring for several reasons. in retrospect this has some truly good songs i.e. Exit Wounds, Million Little Pieces, and a handful of others, and the same goes for Battle
honestly though, they started a trend of lead single being what I would consider the worst or at least one of the worst on the album as far back as Meds. "Because I Want You" was fucking shocking when it came out, fortunately that was far & away the low point of that record
