It't the same with Still Life's original versus its reissue artwork.

Tbh I don't really care for Control Denied yet this is my favorite Death by far. This one is just special with its raw emotionz.

This and CD are virtually identical except the vocals. Bite the Pain, Spirit Crusher, and A Moment of Clarity were written for Control Denied's debut too.

I do like this more though, if only for Chuck's vox (even if I think this is his worst vocal performance). Although I suppose one could argue that CD's debut sounds like rehash of this since it doesn't really do anything different.

Absolutely, it also pales compared to the emotinal rollercoaster offered here imo. Both may have Christy's incredible drumming but the writing in Fragile Art makes me realize how people who consider TSoP wank may perceive the latter when they hear it. Plus Aymar's generic vocals are almost surreal to be heard over these proficient musicians.

its a tremendously overrated album and it makes no sense to 5 this if you've ever listened to such bands as atheist , cynic , gorguts etc.

Strange comment, even if I agree with the overrated part.

Why does is make no sense to herald this as a masterpiece (or whatever), if you've heard other bands that are ever-so-slightly, but only really vaguely, similar?

because the only reason people fellate this album is because its supposed to be techy and proggy (so they claim) when the fact of the matter is that from 1991 to 1997 there have been plenty of dm bands doing much techier, much proggier, much jazzier, much more interesting genre-pushing things with the genre. fuck's sake even ITP pisses all over this shit
