I don’t think it feels like a retread, but 10K felt out of place following up Lateralus whereas FI doesn’t

It's weird that its already been 6 years since I wrote this review. Time is flying by. Despite a lot of the negativity, I'm actually digging the new album. I think it's better than Undertow, but not nearly as great as Aenima or Laterlus. And I rate it a little below 10,000 days.

I feel dumb but I barely realized how the chorus of Stinkfist is actually about fisting

You were probably just too busy enjoying the kickass riffs in the chorus. I know I tend to fixate on the instrumentation and the vocals sometimes feels secondary even though Maynard is phenomenal.

Well I would always sing along to the lyrics "turn around and take my hand" but I didn't think of it as them bending over and taking a fist lmao

If it wasn't for all the awkward and out-of-place filler on this record, this would easily be a 5 for me.

Eulogy and Third Eye probs my favs. I dig the zany interludes but they could do with a bit more substance.

The interludes aren't awkward and out of place to me. They're just part of the personality of the album. It wouldn't be complete without them I feel

album literally has 10 mins of useless filler.

I don’t totally hate Useful Idiot either, but that’s only because it’s so short. Ions could’ve been okay too if it wasn’t four fucking minutes long. The rest can fuck off

I like ‘90s progressive alt metal, not crying babies and German cookie recipes

Is it because you're listening to them isolated?

Gather 'round younglings and shall regale you a tale of the nineties: Well, basically I only heard this on CD so it was all a part of the art.

Arr, we didn't divide this up into yer fancy 'interludes' and 'real songs', nay, t'was all part of a sacred work.

Nah fam. My dad would always jam tool on road trips. They felt out of place then, and they kill the flow of the record for me now. Lateralus I don’t mind as much, I basically consider Eon Blue Apocalypse as part of the Patient.
