I’d like to think I helped people find this good ass album, but I remember distinctly who showed it to /me/: famous sput troll eliminator

You/sput are the only person mentioned on the wiki page for this album. You are the new authority.

I’ve listened to this album so many times—I wonder how well I know it. Also shouts to the non-Nara woman guitar player on this album

Insensatez: the double tracked vocal and maybe more pronounced lo-fi feel are interesting. not an absolute favorite but beautiful 8/10

Samba de uma nota: this is a favorite. 9/10

Retrato em branco e preto: beautiful ominous song, 8/10. This and the second song both feel like good examples of different means of doing complexity in Brazilian pop songwriting

Corcovado: famous song. Good one not an absolute favorite 8/10

Garota de ipanema: such a good song. Understand why this wouldn’t be the definitive version 9/10

Pois e: beautiful song 8.5/10 very like inquisitive sounding, keeps searching, the piano keeps asking two note questions

Chega de saudade: probably a bit brighter and therefore above the fray for this part of the album 8.5/10

Bonita: this was Sputnik user eliminator’s favorite song on this album. He showed me this album, and I wrote this review, so maybe thank eliminator? Not one of my favs tho 7.5/10

Voce e eu: just ugh yes. this feels soundtrack-y, like what I want, memories of watching anime, 9/10

Fotografia: this one just kinda sounds like Corcovado or whatever 7/10

O grande amor: damn she switched the tempo? Light 8.5/10

Estrada do sol: oh shit there’s piano! This song has such a good melody, 9/10

Por toda a Minha vida: god, it’s amazing. There’s nothing better than this type of music with just acoustic guitar and yet I forgot how tastefully applied the string instrument (…viola? lol I’m dumb help) is, how well it fits, 8.5/10 for sure

Desafinado: I dunno, this might might be my favorite. Takes half a second to hit. 9.5/10?

Minha namorada: above-average ascending melody, 8.5/10

Rapaz de Bem: sounds like voce e eu. It’s good though. 7.5/10

Vou por ai: this one is maybe a bit boring? 7/10

O amor em paz: somehow this one too. Neither are bad. 7/10 is probably slightly harsh, but…

Sabia: this isn’t a favorite, but it is featured in the French experimental movie “La vallee close”. At least I’m pretty sure. Can someone watch it and confirm this. 7.5/10

Meditacao: somehow it feels true that none of these songs in a row are like top shelf uhhhh 8/10 tho that insistent piano hook when she raises the pitch of the basic melodic arc is cool

Primavera: this one is weird. I’m glad not every song is like this, but it’s good. 7.5/10

Este seu olhar: 8/10, good flute

Outra vez: 8.5/10, interesting decision to ice the drums on this one and it works

Demais: very good acoustic-only closer 8/10

i forgot about sabia in vallee close, iirc just a short snippet... you have good memory! he also drops some bach in that movie because of course he does... usually i just find that stuff distracting

Yeah, it’s like ten seconds, but def had a Proust moment. Guess I just thought of it as the album eliminator and I liked at the time. But I knew instantly it was Nara’s rendition
