the mix is still terrible but i'm leaning closer to giving this a 4. Some of these songs (AM War, We Are, Aeons, Eidolon, Sky Machine) are absolutely incredible

Asymmetry’s 10 year anniversary this year. I still think it’s a good to great album. Problem is it was following a fantastic debut and then a masterpiece of a sophomore album so just ‘good’ can be hard to swallow. It’s full of ok to good songs with very few great songs. I’d only really put we are, eidolon and sky machine in the great category with alpha and aeons coming close. All It Takes really made me want to hear these songs with forester savell’s production. I think would definitely have elevated the album.

Ian Kenny explained in an interview that they’re only a part time band now. All the members live in different cities and have their own lives and families. They only meet a few times a year to write new music and record.



People who have asked the guys about new music on their European tour have been told the same thing - albums 75 percent done but most likely won’t be released this year. However they’ve apparently said they’ll release a few more songs (most likely animation and reanimation) in the next few months.

Glad they’re prioritizing living normal lives. Doing music full time is a fucking grind. Thanks for the context

Still a great but flawed album that is very underrated by a lot of people. I gave it a spin and I forgot how good ‘aeons’ is.

Yeah it's an album I didn't vibe with at first because of being so much more obtuse than Sound Awake (one of my favourite albums of all time), but it has grown on me a lot through the years.
