Aeons is great but the drums during the heavier part of the song really bug me. The tone and mixing of them in that part don't sit well with me.

I really don't think the guy who engineered this album understands how to mix drums at all. The bass drum is too muddy,
the cymbals are harsh and annoying, the snare drum sounds just...wrong. Speaking as a drummer who has recorded a few
times.

The drums are so inconsistent aswell in terms of tone and mixing throughout the album.
You listen to a song like Sky Machine and the drums sound fine and are mixed well but then listen to Aeons and they sound like shit.
On Sound Awake the drums sounded amazing and were perfectly mixed. I just really want them yo go back to Forrester. If this had Sound Awake-esque production it would probably be a 4.5 for me.

The worst moment is probably on AM War when the drums first come in. You can easily hear the "breathing" effect from the horrible over-compression

The part that i dislike about that part is how weak and soft the toms sound.

"FearThyEvil they were really awesome live, much better than I thought they'd be. Definitely go see them"
Yeah, I had a chance to see them a couple years back. The venue was too far away though and my buddy didn't want to go when we realized how far it was.

They're doing a smaller headlining tour along side Grooving The Moo and they're missing Adelaide again ffs.

Cool interview with Ian Kenny.
He says that the band is thinking about having a few songs written by the end of the year to be released as an ep next year.
Apparently the songs are going to be similar to Asymmetry but simpler, more melodic and even with some pop sensibilities.
But that interview was from February and recently Drew said that the stuff they'd been writing had a bit of an old school feel to it and that he's 'rediscovered the power of the riff' so yeah, idk.

All of that sounds like good news to me.

Yeah, i figured we'd be waiting another 3-4 years for new Vool but the thought of getting some new songs next year is exciting.
I'm guessing one of the songs will be a re-worked song called 'Listen' which the band said nearly made it onto Asymmetry but didn't really fit. They did the same thing with Nacash. It was written during Sound Awake but wouldn't fit in with the album so they re-wrote and recorded it for Asymmetry.

They missed Adelaide for the second tour in a row. We always get pretty decent numbers here aswell :/
The setlist they've been playing is pretty killer aswell
From the last show -
Simple Boy
C.O.T.E.
We Are
Goliath
Mauseum
All I Know
New Day
Fear of the Sky
Scarabs
The Refusal
Themata
Aeons
Encore:
Change
Can't believe they're playing Scarabs! I think it's the first time they've played it in like 8 years haha.

"My mate's met Drew Goddard a couple of times now"
I met him and Hoss after a show in 2011. They were playing the refusal for the first time that tour. They were really nice guys. I was very drunk and probably a little bit of an annoying fan boy lol.

And i actually listened to Asymmetry again today and i still really like it despite the pretty shoddy and uneven production in parts. I think i actually enjoyed the first half more than the second half this listen. A.M War has grown on me massively.
