this is definitely their best instrumentally but nothing they've done since rfts has hit me the same

I know I'm in large minority here, but War Paint is SO much better than RftS. "Where I Want to Be" and "Reach for the Sun" are the only great tracks on it in my opinion.
War Paint is really exhausting though because it's so samey.

reach for the sun is perfect for the intense depression that comes with a bad breakup and that's why i've always loved it so much

Yeah this might be my favourite too, I dunno. I just find RFTS to be a little trite and hollow compared to this and War Paint, but I dunno whether I prefer WP or this yet.

They've definitely upped their songwriting and musicianship a bit. Not quite as catchy, but it's good to see they aren't stagnating.

Pretty sweet album for my first listen and I kinda like the more raspy vocals. We'll see how I feel about it later but it will be hard to top RftS. Also that hand on the album cover looks horribly disfigured.

"Also that hand on the album cover looks horribly disfigured."
Yeah agreed. I loved all their artworks so far, but this one is in need of improvement. I like the idea behind it though.

If you listen to a Dangerous Summer album all the way through with headphones you deserve some kind of endurance award.

^ Not sure about the comparison but oh man I remember that song, mad nostalgia.

build in drowning makes me soar

Last Train Home was the first song I'd ever heard myself sing when someone recorded a performance. It scarred me and kept me from singing for like 7 years.
These dudes suck terribly at their instruments. It's like they don't give a shit about instrumentals. also, aj has always had a little bit of natural grit, but his vocals on this album sound way too forced. other than that, album is kinda growing on me.

Yeah they're really nothing special instrumentally but goddamn AJ makes this band for me. I think he sounds fantastic on this.
|
| |
Yea agreed, but definitely like it more in songs like catholic girls where it sounds more natural. For all my bitchin, they do what they do and it is usually solid if not great.
Drowning, Knives, and Into the Comfort are probably my faves.

They really could try and expand their style a bit more and incorporate some more genres cos goddamn they get same-y. But AJ is a goddamn beast so he makes up for any other faults imo.
I don't dig Drowning all that much; Knives and Miles Apart are the standouts for me.

I like Cody and he's a cool guy, but they need a new rhythm guitarist. He does nothing but play rhythm, and he's severely lacking in diversity.
I've heard a lot of comparisons to Brand New for Drowning on Absolutepunk, but it really reminds me of a Beggars Thrice song, which is probably why I like it a lot.
I'm actually going to try and get AJ to sing on one of my tracks when they stay over this tour, I think it'd sound great with his vox.

excited to hopefully hear Of Confidence live, their first EP is still my fav thing they've put out

I heard that Cody was an absolute dick but oh well I can't make claims either way. I think he has talent he just doesn't really try and use it that much.
Oh my god dude if you could collab with AJ, fuck that would be amazing. What style of music do you play man, is it like this?
