Putting People on the Moon is incredibly powerful, wow. Stumbled on this album yesterday, and I'm glad I did

Missed Sunnyvale's bump on the previous page but that is one of my favorite lyrics of all time, "Carl Perkins' Cadillac" is an eternal tune.

You’re talking about Hood I assume. I guess he can take some getting used to

Worth noting that they’re actually releasing an updated version of this with new vocal cuts on a few of the Hood tracks. But his voice is definitely an acquired taste regardless.

Hood is a pretty bad singer but a pretty good songwriter

might be an acquired taste but he's hard to beat once you get used to him
I'm still shocked at how underrated some of his solo material is. Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance is some of his best work hands down imo

Pieces of that truck stop litter up the highway
I've been told
And I hear that missing trucker ended up in Kansas
Or maybe it was Oz…

“those strained high-pitched vocals are not good at all“
That has always been my one problem with this album lol. Those vox really are just nottttt good

i like his high pitched strained vocals. I love it when a vocalist puts it all out there and misses notes. usually much better than super calculated, polished and perfect vocals imo

Album Rating: 3.5
the funny thing is i absolutely agree in principle. most of my favorite vocalists/vocal performances fall into the category of unpolished but interesting. but that specific style of vocals on this album falls short for me
