But it's so completely vicious. There's a lot more going on in this record than people give credit.

It's a hidden gem, those who have listened to it and disagree are probably influenced by the shitty cover and the useleness of the public opinion

Or, ya know, maybe they just don't like it.....
I've listened to this multiple times and I think it sucks. The album cover has nothing to do with it.

Six whole months since I drooled over this slab of BM perfection on here. For shame.

From the album title, I thought this would be terrible but it's honestly not that bad. Probably a generous 3 or so.

A really cold offering as satyr said.
Totally disagree with the review

Still best Satyricon... Still sad what has become of Satyricon after this and Volcano!

you can turn this on and go hey it's black metal it's not bad but then forget that you're listening to it but then you start to get annoyed at their weird buzzing sound and you say what is that annoying sound and then you realize Satyr is still growling at you and you're still listening to this album and it's only halfway done how could it only be halfway done it feels like forever i just want to be finished so i can go home Snorre why did you let this happen

'Black Metal or not' is a pointless shallow discussion, this is Satyricon at ther most original imaginative and subversive. No cheese like on their first 2 albums (and partly on Nemesis Divina),no by-the-numbers autoplagiarism like in their latest 3. Just intense, creative, claustrophobc, noisy genius!

Lmao what? Their first 3 were very original; this is just stock black n roll crammed together with some Thorns riffs. Snorre wrote riffs included on almost half the tracks.

1. there was no such thing as black n' roll by the time this album was released. The very few parts on this that could be categorized as black n' roll have pioneered that sound. This has lots of blast beats and dark cold riffs & sounds, not very rockn n rolly... Black n roll started with 'Volcano' and was fully in force since 'Now Diabolical'.
2. The fact that Snorre wrote riffs for this is not exactly an argument against it...
