@zettel I appreciate the feedback but it kind of sounds to me like your main beef with the review is that you wanted it to be written a certain way and it wasn't.
I reference Planet Mu's members, which yeah a good chunk of readers aren't familiar with, but I made a point to (in that sentence) explain HOW his music is affected by them so that the readers don't have to be. The point of that sentence is to explain that Chewed Corners is conscious of the musical output surrounding it, not for readers to relate it to some planet mu member they're familiar with (though the ones that ARE familiar with Mu might be able to).
I'm on mobile right now so I can't address everything. I don't want to sound defensive because I do like criticism, but I had a purpose for not just comparing this to paradinas's other work - I want the review to be able to stand on its own. I think most reviews should be able to. In the same way people might not be familiar with planet mu, plenty of people reading this aren't going to know what Tango or Lunatic sound like, and even less will be familiar with his more recent work.

Lush? I would have said cheap, queasy and sterile. Was looking forward to this :/

I think it's more of an indictment of how stupid the term IDM is.

Yeah pre dumb term

Don't really see how, unless you believe all dance music is/should be limited to 4x4

@TMobotron:
I understand. I know my criticism was a bit harsh, and I see the review is primarily an invitation to newcomers. Personally, I wanted a reason to convince me to check this out, since I consider most of U-ziq's work to be mediocre despite his contributions to the scene, but did not find any.
I simply felt the review could have used a little more insight for the readers that could be more familiar with the artist. Despite this personal quibble, I want to make it clear that this is a great review.

id say check this out if you liked his debut the most out of his work. i love the debut but i think bluff limbo kind of sucks. this is definitely his most stripped down and "basic" i guess you could say, but the synthwork and the melodies are just too good care that its not all that groundbreaking

@Hyperion:
Thanks for the input. I might check this out soon.

why does nobody like the term IDM? It's like the best term ever
|
| |
why so polarizing?

well i like myself some good salsa music so i don' think that music to dance has to be restricted to 4/4.
But this never induced the slightest incentive to dance to me...thats why I wondered why this should be called dance music.
And i am positive that Einstein was pretty much a rock n roller!

Mike Pardinas has really gone down a slippery slope and there's barely hope of him recovering after this doozy

I unno what you're talking about man, this shit rules. Houzz 10 and Weakling Paradinas are 2 of my favorite songs of the year.
|
| |
houzz 10 is a good song, it's just this album is sounds so lazy like he just spent one night making all of these songs.

I'll make sure to inform the right people when coming up with genre names to include you in the discussion then. Does Donchivo agree with the name? No? Fuck it, back to the drawing board then fellas

It's good, but it sounds exactly like the stuff I was making on FL Studio like 4 years ago....very very simple and repetitive IDM. Catchy and lush but no variation.
