The second and third bit yeah lol. If I ever feel like taking shitposting to a whole new level all I need to do is turn my katakana keyboard on and forget to turn it off ;]

I wish I knew Japanese. Cool language. But like most people, I did an A level in Spanish.

Spanish is a fab language to have down tho! I did Italian and some German through uni then graduated and wanted something non-European (things kinda snowballed from there and now I'm moving yikes)

Did you do a year abroad in Japan?

Nah, visited Tokyo for a week a year ago and that got me intrigued. I was having a minor existential crisis about what to do with my life while catsitting for my aunt so I drank half a bottle of wine and applied for a job in Japan - next thing I know, I'm signed up to spend a year starting in a few months lol. Gonna be a weird shift but I'm stoked - everyone in the UK hates everyone else in the UK rn (and ooh we have an election in 5 weeks now! popcorn time!) so a change of scene will be fun

That's cool stuff, man. Hope it all pans out for you. I've never been, but it's on the list of places my wife and I want to visit. I take it you're fluent?

Ha we'll see ;] And yesss you totally should, do a bicycle tour and get the full scope!

Also absolutely shit no lmao, I'm getting somewhere and have a good tutor who gives me a cheap rate, but am miles and miles away from fluency. I can translate certain kinds of English sentences literally, read a few characters, and chat about the weather and what kind of parties my friends are throwing but that's about it rn

Kanji is a bitch I hear. But it's cool that they are the same as Chinese characters apparently. You'll be able to read in two languages while learning one. How cool is that?

At least Japanese is easier on the ear than other Asian languages. There were people from Japan at my uni, they were cool.

Mmm this is true, hopefully means getting lost in China will be less likely to happen the entire time. And also true, Korean is pretty cool but I've yet to hear a sentence in Mandarin out loud that hasn't made me wince a little

More distorted electric guitars? Fear of a Blank Planet.

Less distorted electric guitars? Lightbulb Sun.

Deadwing is the best PT from this era imo, turns this one's creepy vibes into a ghost story

Fear of a Blank Planet is definitely worth a check too, a little more similar to this tone-wise and with some of SW's best material
