The Used - Self Titled

CD Title: The Used
Artist: The Used
Label: Reprise
Released: June 25, 2002
Genre: ROCK

Maybe Memories:
Great intro song, this like the anthem of all Used songs. One of the more harder songs on this cd. one of the best also. 4.5/5

The Taste of Ink
Most played out song on this cd, you use to hear it everywhere. which is why i hate this song now, played out to the max, pretty boring anyways. second single from this cd. 2/5

Bulimic
well the name of this song explains the lyrics, this song has a pretty catchy chorus with "goodbye to you." The song starts out slow and gets faster and faster until Bert screams then it gets slow, and then comes back to its average speed. the song ends with bert screaming for awhile

Say Days Ago
this song is bert screaming a whole lot, its got a "group singing chorus" I like the guitar harmonics of this song. The song is a pretty heavy song 5/5

Poetic Tragedy
this song starts out slow, the lyrics about how a artist of all types writing, music etc and how drug abuse took the better side of him. The Used if you didnt know had to overcome homelessness and substance abuse, not to mention the strait-laced attitudes of their hometown of Orem, UT, to make their brand of hard rock. which is why i think this song is about them, the instruments are pretty good in this song. it ends with a little violin part. great song 5/5

Buried Myself Alive
this song is very boring, i skip this track everytime. its annoying and boring, the instruments are played out after while.one of the singles from this album. 1/5

A Box Full of Sharp Objects
this song got me into the used, a harder song then most of the album. great song, very energetic. every instrument goes together very well. the drums are also very good in the album, actually there good on most songs, there drummer is very under rated. 5/5

Blue and Yellow
catchiest song on the album, hands down. this song is one of the singles from the used. I like this song, it has a piano in it also 5/5

Greener With a Scenery
another slow song, ths song is average. nothing special really, it has a lot of ambient noise. 3/5

Noise and Kisses
second shortest song on the album, a softer song. it has that fast, slow, fast slow thing going on. its an okay song 3.5/5

on my own
slowest song on the album, this song is about the members and when they were homeless. its actually a really good song, its got a great chorus. no drums in this song. just guitar and a violin 5/5

pieces mended
good drums in this song, this song is different from the rest of the album. the members show there full musical abillitys in this song. 4/5

The hidden track is god like its easily the hardest thing on the use kind of like the blood brothers sound. very cool hopefully there next album will have more songs like this, it also has this thing where bert gets a lap dance from the fatest lap dancer that they could find, she sounds like a ******* look alike 8-) 5/5

i give this album 4.5/5 very good record

if you like senses fail, finch, the early november, poision the well, from first to last you should check them out

reccomended songs:
box full of sharp objects
maybe memories
on my own
pieces mended
blue and yellow
say days ago

I dont really like that review, but this quite possibly my favorite CD. Hopefully the new one is out here within the next few months.

Also check out "Just A Little." It didnt make the cut for this CD but was on the CD/DVD "Maybe Memories" and is a great song. :thumb:

I got this cd last Christmas (I gave you my heart. The very next day, you gave it away...) and liked it for a little while but it got too boring. It has some decent variety and some of the writing's pretty good, but it's not anything that's revolutionary or anything. "Blue and Yellow" and "A Box Full of Sharp Objects" are good good tunes. 3/5

I don't like screamo, but I love the used... But they are starting to become WAY too preachy for me about vegan. Anyway, this album is 5/5.

5/5? Hardly.

I borrowed this album from my friend to check it out. The only song I could stand was "Burried Myself Alive". 1/5

I only know 4 songs, yeah, the 4 singles.
I saw them live last year in the warped tour, they kicked ***. They played a lot heavier .

5/5? C'mon, please...

I think you're throwing that around a bit too easy here. See the rules for CD Reviewing: 5/5 would mean it's a must have record, not matter what style of music you like to listen to. And I doubt this one is such a record...

Nevertheless, the record is great. Good and solid. get's a good 3.5/5 from me. :thumb:

The Used is a good introduction if you're new to the genre. I liked 'em last year, but now that I'm listening to better bands, I rarely even bother to them right now. Buried Myself Alive is a personal favorite.

0/5 for the review. Pathetic. Rock is a very broad genre, you can class any band with distortion under rock. I think you need to review what you say about each song. "It's boring." is not good enough. How can an album that, by your ratings, only gets 2 or 3 5/5 but the whole album gets a 5/5? 3.5/5 sounds good, for a pretty average album.

Wrong! Although, I can't see how PTW relate to The Used. They are two completely different genres.

Taste Of Ink deserves to be higher.

That track is everything but boring, but you'll say just about anything is, won't you?
