The songwriting and production for the type of music being attempted are top notch, what else could you ask for musically? If you're looking for virtuosity or a pretentious "meaning" behind the music, then you're looking in the wrong place. It's meant to be over the top (a little tongue in cheek too in this respect), catchy pop and nothing more.

OK cool, the songwriting is OK, nothing special but a bit more creative than a lot of pop, hence why I haven't given it a 1.5 or something.
That isn't pretentious. Sure it is just trying to be catchy pop, but if I tried to draw a picture as well as a 5 year old and managed to do it, people wouldn't be praising me left right and centre if you get what I'm saying
