Oh, there are two Martin Luther. omg I betray my lack of knowledge ragarding history. LOL

Ok as for ''active'', it's not the appropriate word. What I meant is I don't frequent a church, so I'm not spiritually involved - with all my heart - as a christian as such. I'm not surrounded by any brother or sister anymore. Retrograde would be a good adjective. I sure believe in God, but I do not practice my faith, does that make sense? ''Faith without works is a dead faith'' (Google translation)

Also I'm jamming ''One'' atm. I forgot about how much it's grand.

I see haha no worries, you understandably were thinking of the more famous of the two (strange as it is since the more famous was named after the lesser).

Okay I get you. I'd agree, ''Faith without works is a dead faith'' in the sense that head-knowledge is not useful to you or God if it has nothing else. Maybe yours is just dormant (asleep)? If you want my advice, I'd encourage you to start again with all your heart and being spiritually involved on your own. I know some churches don't help the cause much :p Maybe a little break can turn over a new leaf and not a dead one, am I right?

My christian life seems so far from me now. I've been told here and there that christianity is a sect. I know it's not but when I decided to forsake, I gradually started to believe I was into a sect. I rejected my brothers and sisters, I rejected the bible and God himself. I finally thought i didnt deserve his presence in my life, and I went all alone among the lions. Now, the more it goes, the more I'm attracted for the things of God. I remember never being really comfortable into a church but now that I'm not in, I'm not comfortable neither. I'm torn. I'm thirsty for spirituality and to hear about God, but not about Satan like the pastors tend to do too often, sadly.

God is certainly more powerful than Satan, so yeah if your old church talked all about Satan and all the negatives it was definitely the wrong place to be. Some "Christian" churches act like sects when they tell you you must believe everything they tell you. Find Christians that are willing to discuss important issues without judging. In fact, we're having church right now! Church definition - The gathering of two or more believers...on or offline :D

You're right, and I appreciate the moment, brother. Yeah the Lord said; ''If two believers or more, come together in my name, I will be in the middle of them''.

One thing I'm a bit afraid of is when it says in the bible that one must be ready to lose all his family and friends because of Jesus, or something like that. That saddens me. (And it's for the majority everyone who thought that I was into a sect, a reason right there to lose the entourage)

And something still more scaring is the parabola of the virgins. Those that have enough oïl in their lamp, and those who don't have enough; Jesus definitely closed the door at them!!!

That's what church is for! :] I think you're a lot more honest than a lot of people who either read that stuff and ignore it or say they agree with it but don't actually examine themselves enough to know if they live it.

Jesus does say follow him at all costs. Does it mean he wants you to lose it all? Not at all. I don't know what your church told you it means. What it doesn't mean is the church takes your things, or you have to leave your family, or scare away all your friends or anything ridiculous like that. God loves family and relationships more than anyone. In Genesis (hehe like the band), Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son Isaac, and God counted his willingness as saving faith. God stopped him before he did it, though. I'd say to you that God wants the best for you, but you have to trust that he does. It's more referring to others rejecting you or you being persecuted for it, not you making freaky decisions. Back in the early days of Christianity, Jewish people who decided to follow Jesus were cast out of society. Then Nero got the bright idea of burning whole families of Christians alive for their faith. That's what those verses mean.

The parable of the virgins...not parabola, that's a geometric shape :p All I can say is you can be certain of your own salvation! I don't think it's right when Christians single out actual people as not being saved either, since only God and and the person themselves can know that.

Anyways, why don't we move this discussion to our shoutboxes? I think it's more appropriate.

ha well I'm a moderate Star Trek fan, but I've never seen that one. Haha, totally kidding about Pete Trewavas and Roine Stolt. With the drummer being the most famous member, I had to poke fun at somebody. I play bass and the guy is a great player.

Yeah, Friday 13th, I'm also a moderate Star Trek fan and I've never seen that one, too. I'm very pleased to know that you play bass. As an old friend of mine once told me, he also played bass as you, nobody cares about the bass. However, if it doesn't appears, everybody misses him.

And of course Pete is a great player but all the members on the album are great performers, too.

I don't know if you know, but Portnoy thinks that Pete is a bass player less well tapped with Marillion.
