But that's only because it's like a carbon copy of "Awake And Alive" which was pretty rocking in it's own right

Point taken. Honestly, that song and "Rise" are the only songs really enjoyable from this, and even then as guilty pleasures.

this is bound to attract some hilarious one-time-posters

"I hated critics’ negative receptions of the release - couldn’t they just be satisfied with Skillet’s skill at creating kick-ass hard rock riffing?"
oh god. i still remember when i was like that and had trouble understanding why people didn't like Red or Breaking Benjamin or *insert band*

They'll be two time posters, they'll come into this review and bitch, and praise the other review.

Comatose was nice and all but everyone knows their true best album is Collide [2]

YEAH JEWS ROCKING OUT TO CHRISTIAN ROCK
my outlook was "the lyrics suck, but at least the music is AWESOME"
|

the singles from this outclassed anything from awake, sad to hear it's another step down

I have to disagree with this, and maybe that's a sign you'll like this more than I did. I thought the singles were basically Awake/Comatose ripoffs but worse

Wasn't Comatose slightly different? Then of course Alive was the same thing again, but it didn't approach the level of ripoff of Rise
|

singles were definitely not worse than awake imo, title track isn't great but it's better than
anything on that record

Album isn't too bad compared to Awake

There are some moments on this I love, and many more I hate. I'm not sure how I feel yet. My Religion has a nice groove to it that's a nice change, but overall a lot of these songs are aiming for that epic chorus feel and not focusing on good lyrics or verses or transitions. I don't know.

Might check this out. A 1.5 seems a bit harsh?

Listened to some previews and this sounds awful. I'll just leave it at that and avoid hearing this.
