Understandable, I get your point. I guess it's just easier to play it safe than to take the same risks they took back in the day.

3 listens and this has managed to grow off of me somehow despite initially barely liking it

I think I'm done with this one

Zeitgeist is an okay attempt at trying to recreate Planet Caravan, but why would I ever want to hear it over Planet Caravan?

I'll have to revisit the rest of Sabbath's discog and place this up against them.

it doesn't hold up especially well to the original 6, but better than TE and NSD, but pretty good for a bunch of old Geezers

Bill really should have been on this, and Rick Rubin needed to stay as far away from this as possible. Why would you hire him to produce? Worst compressor of metal albums I've heard

My guess is that he was recommened by the record company. Rick also has a reputation of not being overly involved and i think that's what sabbath wanted as well. The last thing they wanted was to have someone over their heads telling them how to write songs...

the biggest thing omair in no Bill, nobody can replace him, and he might get lost in the shuffle till you hear a BS album without him, that swing drum sound is just so perfect against the riffs

Yet I could swear he produces everything made in this century. I don't know why but it seems bands enjoy his work if he's that successful. God I hate his sound
