'I wasn't sure why he seemed to have such an emotional stake in their continuation.'
Again, no problem with them making new music or their continuation. I'm not the only long time QR fan that has a problem with this. They should be called Rising West.

I understand your opinion, but it just seems like it shouldn't have evolved into an actual problem that affects your enjoyment of the music.

Been doing this band a very long time Willie and they were my favorite right along with Rush. It's very disappointing to see the state of the band(s) today. I think many long time fans (not saying that you're not one) agree with my angle.

Nice one there Lakes, your level of humour may reach past the age of 3 one day.

Been doing this band a very long time Willie and they were my favorite right along with Rush. It's very disappointing to see the state of the band(s) today. I think many long time fans (not saying that you're not one) agree with my angle. Me too, except it was Queensryche and Fates Warning (Empire and Parallels). They were my first two 'prog' albums.
I've been disappointed with their last few albums too (I did the negative reviews on them). I'm also disappointed that they couldn't resolve their differences and do what made them great together. I'm also disappointed that the split didn't leave Geoff Tate with something to prove and Queensryche fans with two awesome albums. I'm not disappointed that the split has at least resulted in one great release (and hopefully a few more to come).
I definitely don't think that my 'angle' is the only one out there, but it's the one that I'm obviously going to write about and defend.

No doubt......it was Rage for me and then I heard Take Hold and it was over, I was hooked.
I even like a handful of songs off of Frequency Unknown.

I heard Empire and Parallels on the same day from my cousin and I liked Fates Warning more, so I checkout out all of their old albums first. Then I heard Mindcrime and realized I may have been doing it wrong... Rage confirmed it for me.

They prog in the same way that Porcupine Tree or Damn the Machine or even a lot of the newer Fates Warning albums do.

No reason to listen to them though as they suck.
