This isn't terrible by any means, but it's certainly not what anyone was expecting from Megadeth-and not in a good way either. Some songs really explodes-like 'Kingmaker', 'Burn!' and 'A house divided'-yet the one thing I can't really get into is Mustaine's vocals, which by now (sorry to say this fans of the band) are proving weak and consequently making him sound as old as he is. It's not a bad thing, but you can really tell that he, along with the band, seems to be running out of gas and that's probably the reason why songs like the title track and 'Beginning of sorrow' are disappointingly bland. Not quite the band's worst album, but a long way off from their best.

I thought cryptic writings was OK, it certainly had a number of decent tracks whereas I can honestly say I don't even semi-demi-almost like any of these. Un-listenable and Megadeth are possibly my favourite band, this hurts.
