status back baby is great, also, I think they get to Plastic People pretty quick, Duke of Prunes reprise maybe so, but that should'nt diminish to much from the whole, actually it is kind of like COncentration Moon on WOIFTM

Heard this for the first time in a year or 2, plastic people gained a bit of relevance because of the ridiculousness going on in US politics the last few weeks, or couple years I guess

Zappa was an asshole, but a relevant asshole... we need more people like him

why was he an asshole? weird, womanizer, sick sense of humor too, but he is not Lennon quality asshole for sure.

this is one of the worst zappa albums imo, not worth your time with so much superb zappa releases. a lot of the songs are just really mediocre first versions of songs that eventually became great like call any vegetable. buy just another band from la to hear what that turned into (and/or read my review on this truly great album)

Tef is right. Call Any Vegetable took a huge step forward from this album to JABFLA.

ya, like most great bands, songs get expanded and better as the more they play it live, that does not mean that this album is not good, I think as a whole Zappa over conducts his musicians, especially early when he had a swingingly great set of musicians,

check the version of Veggies on Road tapes venue 3, spectacular

that's a great version too!

this album is a divider.

I started out with 70's zappa, still my fav period, although i dig a lot (and i mean a lot) of his music. standouts in a negative way are; 200 motels, burnt weeny, the album under scrutiny here, ruben and the jets and a lot of his later releases like trance fusion. luckily also a lot of exceellent stuff is still releaesed every year...

Agree with most of you comment except your view of this album and Transe fusion, I started with 60’s Zappa and moved forward do this and Money were some of the first heard by me, even if you do not like this you have to give props to Veggies and Pumpkins, 2 killer tunes

And nothing he has done is a 2, even 200, and burnt
