it’s just not what i want from qotsa. i want that cool driving through the mojave in a 69 z28 at night vibe that the first 3 records deliver. this one’s just too ballad heavy and somber for what I want from this band.

Um this is a perfect night driving album imo. And if I want something from music I don't care what band I get it from

I like villains actually. My faves are this one and songs for the deaf though.

EV and Villains are the only ones I don’t bother revisiting. Otherwise they have a killer discog.

Era and Villains aren't bad at all, but honestly if not for this masterpiece I wouldn'tve considered the band particularly special or outstanding after Lullabies to Paralyze in 2005.

I love both those albums haha, Era is their weakest though
|
| |
It has some of their best "rock" guitar tones imo

Album Rating: 4.5
Era has some gems for sure. Misfit Love is an absolute beast
the band still hasn't made anything close to a bad album, but Era and Villains are easily their two "weakest" imo

Villains is actually #3 or 4 on my ranking, really distills their sound into its most accessible form without losing any bite imo. One of their most consistent albums next to this tbh
