@Talons: we have the same top 2, so it’s not that different. SFTD is still a favourite of mine but for the first time I can ever remember it doesn’t hit quite as hard. Maybe I overplayed it, that’s certainly possible. I wouldn’t just put it down to a stylistic preference, in fact this record doesn’t even sound like something I’d dig which makes it all the more extraordinary.

QOTSA's debut has actually grown for me, I prefer the s/t over SFTD
still find this my favorite tho

The live version of 'I Appear Missing' at the Wiltern is far superior to the studio version.

Finally decided to 5 this. Can't believe it's almost 5 years old already.

I still think tracks 3-4 are what keeps this from perfection. 1-2 are excellent and stand on their own, 5-10 have such great flow and every song is amazing.

Vampyre is one of my favourite things Homme has done, especially live
I Sat By the Ocean is the song that doesn't belong here

I don't think there's anything on here that doesn't belong, but I Sat By the Ocean is probably one of the less amazing tracks.
"tracks 3 and 4 are what keep this from perfection"
those could both be top half on here for me

None of the tracks are weak ones, the only one I could make an argument for is Fairweather Friends

I Sat By the Ocean is weaker too but not "weak" in any sense
Neither is fairweather tbh

I alternate all the time in which are the best tracks. Depends on my mood.

I don't think anything's weak, Ocean's just really out of place emotionally on the album (in that it's not, uh, emotional in any way). it probably would have fit on Villains if you got Ronson in to ruin its production
