Sounds like powerful stuff to me, music with meaning, that’s quite the accolade.

yeah this may not be the National's best but it's definitely the one that means the most to me personally

I love the highs, but there's too many meh songs on this.

Demons, Don't Swallow the Cap, and Graceless are top tier National. I don't care for Fireproof, Slipped, Humiliation, or Pink Rabbits—they're fine but I just skip them a lot. Everything else is standard good National tunes.

Don't forget This is the Last Time.
Humiliation and Pink Rabbits grew to be among my favorites on here over time. The last minute of Humiliation is an album highlight.
I like Slipped and Fireproof but they're the two weakest on here.

Wtf, “Pink Rabbits” is the best here and top 5 National. “Slipped” is also one of the best here.

Accidentally typed Pink Rabbits when I meant to say Fireproof in my last sentence.

Fireproof was a slow burn (boom boom) for me but it became a favourite

Everything on this was a slow burn for me. Now it’s all just varying degrees of amazing.

Heavenfaced is really boring imo, also I Need My Girl (lame title) does nothing for me. The rest is really good though, especially Sea of Love, which is all around awesome safe for the snare abuse.

I Need My Girl is one of my absolute favourites, I find it utterly heartbreaking

"I Need My Girl" is maybe a tad overrated/overexposed in their discog as a whole and yet it's still perfect.

Good news; Ted Nugent heard The National at 5am today and according to the laws of physics he disappeared
